Daido Kogyo Links with Nidec Kyori for Producing World Famous Chains
When it comes to producing high quality chains for motorcycles and automotive engines, Daido Kogyo has earned a reputation as the world’s premiere manufacturer.
Established in 1933 as a manufacturer of bicycle chains, Daido Kogyo has expanded its production offering to motorcycle and automotive chains, industrial machinery chains, rims/ wheels, conveyor systems and welfare equipment.
With 17 locations in 11 different countries, Daido Kogyo maintains a global presence.
“Our brand ‘D.I.D.’ boasts high performance and quality, especially in motorcycle products,” said Satoshi Kasahara, Chief of Chain Production Section, Parts Team, Fukuda factory. “D.I.D. is recognized as a top brand in the world, including in motorbike racing. We are also one of the few manufacturers that supplies chains for automotive engines, and our products are used in automobiles all over the world.”
The Fukuda plant features two Nidec Kyori ANEX-125SH presses and two ANEX-80 presses assisting in the high speed production of the chain components. Featuring a knuckle link drive, the Kyori ANEX press series provides consistent accuracy and precision for automated high speed blanking and bending operations. With speeds up to 1,400 strokes per minute, with a 16 mm stroke length, the ANEX series is one of the fastest machines of its type in this tonnage range. The ANEX-125SH presses at Daido are capable of running at speeds up to 600 s.p.m.
“We have been using Kyori presses since we started producing engine chains for automobiles about 20 years ago,” Kasahara said. “I was impressed by how quickly Kyori responded to repairs and inquiries, and how safe and secure they were to use. In addition to the specifications and functions of the machine, the extensive after-sales service and excellent support system are also factors that made me feel that Kyori’s presses are superior.”
Kyori is part of the global Nidec Press & Automation (NP&A) group of companies, offering completely integrated solutions for a wide variety of manufacturing applications. NP&A has an industry-leading customer service network with field service personnel dispatched from more than 25 global locations and repair part service centers located on four continents.
“The speed of repair response is very important. In order to minimize equipment downtime, a quick and accurate response is essential,” Kasahara said. “In that respect, I feel that Nidec’s repair response is quick, accurate, and overall excellent. In addition, support based on professional knowledge and experience is directly linked to quick problem resolution, which gives us peace of mind.”
